Happy Monday! Top of the week.
Commitment is powerful and intimidating.
It’s a term we discover, get taught, and retaught a lot over time. From the age of around 10 years old forward, we see how commitment can be an obstacle, an artery to a goal, a learning lesson, a punishment, and a way to materialize plans we have in our minds.
The biggest misconception is when people imagine that when they finally “commit” to anything, they’re committing to a direct path to a win. They couldn’t be further from the truth. Commitment is a mindset that you’ll keep showing up; it’s not a blueprint with the answers in it.
Commitment is a fast track to discovering your failures. Those failures ultimately lead to realizations. That’ll lead to adjustments you have to make, that eventually put you in a better spot than you were in the first time you started. Finally, after many more times of showing up, you will figure out how to make it all work.
The commitment helps you gain experience. Keep getting experience. You’re going to need it in order to function at a high level. All the solutions come from your findings. The more committed you are, the more you’ll be able to sharpen your tools. Keep going, keep learning, keep failing. Don’t stop committing to the journey, and you’ll get where you want to go.
